CULTURAL LANDSCAPE

Numerous examples of log constructed folk architecture adorn the landscape of eastern West Virginia.    (B1094N)
Well used farm vehicles, employed in earlier days in a wide variety of  commercial enterprise on rural farms, can be seen where they found their final resting places.                                                          (FL300J)

This is called a “stake and rider” fence, a type of rail fence that may still be seen, but is becoming rare. The chestnut rails that are used for this fence are no longer available since the chestnut blight of the 1930s.    (FL598J)
