Mac Traynham

Mac Traynham is a well-known instrumentalist and has taught numerous workshops at music camps on old-time banjo and old-time banjo playing. He has won various contests in the region including first place 3 times for his banjo playing at the prestigious Appalachian Stringband Festival held each August near Clifftop, West Virginia. He performed regularly for several years at the famous WPAQ "Merry-Go-Round" program in Mt Airy with The Southern Mountain Melody Makers. He has appeared at the Brandywine Mountain Music Convention, the Carter Fold, and the National Folk Festival. In 2005 he released a critically acclaimed CD of tracks featuring his playing and singing of mountain music. Mac has specialized in old-time country duet singing with his wife, Jenny, since 1979.
