New class information for 2009
is not yet available (except 2009 dates). The information below
shows the classes and instructors that were available in 2008.
Augusta's
open-air Dance Pavilion will be hopping to the beat of Dance Week
in 2008.
Dance Week
Coordinator
Cis Hinkle
has enlisted world class callers, musicians, and
dance instructors
to keep everyone happy
and on their toes! With several dance
floors on campus, many options are open to all.
Cis Hinkle
[top left and lower left] and
Carol Ormand will get everyone moving with Contras and Squares.
Matthew Duveneck
[top right]
will teach couples Argentine Tango and Cross-Step Waltz
and Swing.
Eileen Carson-Schatz will offer Beginning Clogging and Flatfooting and
Create Your Own Dance.
Matthew Olwell will teach Contemporary Clogging and Body
Percussion.
Ann Kilkelly's
Dancing By Ear
and
Visible Rhythms will use swing,
Latin, blues, Motown
and more to power the musical groove. Try out
Emily Oleson’s new Hip Hop class!
For a break from
dancing, there’ll be dance calling, instrument, and Tai Chi
workshops. High-energy music will be provided by
Larry Unger
& Eden MacAdam-Somer
in the duo,
Notorious
[bottom left], and by Laura
Light, George Paul and Dan Siebring as
The Avant Gardeners
[bottom right] with
Owen Morrison. You can also try out new skills learned each day at
evening dances or attend the
concerts, films, and other special
presentations each evening.
Participants
may select optional classes and workshops listed under Vocal Week
and the afternoon instrumental and folklore offerings of Old-Time
Week. Dance Week extends through the Augusta Festival.
To register, specify “Dance Week” as
the name of your class.
Do not list individual classes.
