Augusta's
open-air Dance Pavilion will be hopping to the beat of Dance Week
in 2009.

has enlisted world-class musicians
and
dance
i nstructors
to keep everyone happy
and on their toes! With several dance
floors on campus, many options are open to all.
Cis Hinkle

Tom Hinds will get everyone moving with contras and squares.
Edwin Roa & Amberlyn Sasser

will teach couples Argentine tango and nightclub salsa. Contemporary step dancing and body percussion will be
taught by
Matthew Olwell.

Marie-Soleil Pilette teaching Quebecois dance.
For a break from dancing, there’ll be workshops in dance calling,
playing music for dancing, running your group’s soundboard, and
even t' ai
chi [photo, bottom
right].”
This year there will be powerful, high-energy dance music provided
by
Tidal Wave
(Raz de Marée)*, from New England
and Quebec, and by
Alexander Mitchell, John Devine, and
Ralph Gordon, from the eastern seaboard. You can also try out new skills learned each day at
evening dances or attend the
concerts, films, and other special
presentations each evening.
Participants
may select optional classes and workshops listed under Vocal Week
and the afternoon instrumental and folklore offerings of Old-Time
Week. Dance Week extends through the Augusta Festival.
To register, specify “Dance Week” as
the name of your class.
Do not list individual classes.

Waltz Across Breakfast:
On the porch of
Halliehurst mansion, beginning at around 8:15, come waltz
your way into your day. R. P. Hale will head up the music,
plus whoever would like to join him. There is no
instruction, it’s just a magical way to begin the day.
