Celtic Enameled Jewelry process
Augusta began as a traditional Appalachian heritage crafts and folklore program. Over the years, we’ve continually added various regional and ethnic traditions to our truly multi-cultural program. Many craft class themes relate to concurrent theme weeks. Weeklong ethnic food and folklore classes augment many music and dance workshops, public concerts and dances.  Other special presentations covering music history, literature, language and various oral traditions fill up the week.Photo of cajun cooking class at work in kitchen.

Craft and folklore classes are limited in size. For reasons of safety, there are minimum ages limits on some classes.Photo of Fran Kordek's quilting examples Classes are all day; a typical class might meet from 9 am to noon, and then from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. Our craft studios often buzz with activity late into the night, as students immerse themselves in their projects. Late in the week, a “Craft Showcase” displays the work of students to the concert-going public.
