Cajun/Creole Week classes

J.B. Adams, Charlie Terr, Paul Daigle, Kristi Gillory, and Jesse Lege are teaching accordion this year. Michelle Kaminsky, Al Berard, Tracy Schwarz, and Edward Poullard will teach fiddle. Christy Leichty and Jim Phillips will teach dance. Yvette Landry will teach electric bass. Randy Vidrine will teach guitar. Jackie Miller will be teaching Cajun cooking again this year. Optional evening mini-courses will be taught by Larry Miller, Cedric Watson, and Kristi Gillory. Listen and Dance to music by Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole and other musicians.

Early Country Music Week classes

For the first time at Augusta, we will have the opportunity to explore this true American treasure of music with some of the most dedicated instructors in the country music scene today. Instructors will include Bill Kirchen, Ginny Hawker and Courtney Granger, John Lilly, Carol McComb, and Dana Murphy (mini-course).

Week 1 - Craft & Folklore classes

Cajun Cooking (Jackie Miller), Encaustic Painting (Michael Doig), Herbs (Marion Harless), Instrument Repair (Bob Smakula), and Knitting - Seamless Sweater Design & Construction (Lisa Smakula).

Week 1 - Evening
Mini-Courses

Accordion Repair (Larry Miller), Astronomy Basics (John Schuster), Creole Fiddle (Cedric Watson), Music & History from the Archives (Kristi Guillory), Pedal Steel Guitar (Dana Murphy), and Old-Time West Virginia Singing (Michael & Carrie Kline).

You can register as late as 4:25pm on Monday

Pickin' In The Park

Acoustic bluegrass & old-time jam sessions open to all. Join a jam, start one of your own, or just come to listen. No alcoholic beverages permitted. Sponsored by Augusta Heritage Center (304-637-1209).

Fais Do-Do

Cajun/Creole party open to all.
Cajun food (and gumbo), music, dancing, and jams. Meal prepared by Jackie Miller's cajun cooking class. (Contributions benefit Cajun Youth Scholarships.)
